While more than 90 people have been arrested in connection to the massacre near Jos, it is feared that the killers may never come to justice. It is yet another instance of violence begetting violence with a great deal of help from impunity.

At their last Summit, 189 world leaders pledged to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, in order to eradicate extreme poverty and its root causes by the year 2015. The Goals represent a roadmap to finally wipe extreme poverty from the face of the earth once and for all. With just five years left until the deadline, the upcoming summit in September represents the international community’s last chance to develop breakthrough plans to achieve the Goals.
